Leaving your car and taking a boat: parking spaces, fees, and hours at Ehime ports, and whether you can leave a car for long
Parking lots for leaving a car at the port and taking a boat, at Matsuyama Kanko Port, Mitsuhama Port, Takahama Port, Imabari Port, Yawatahama Port, Misaki Port, Toyo Port, and Niihama-Higashi Port. Checked on the official pages of port managers, terminals, and ferry companies, and listed by port.
Summary
- The Matsuyama Kanko Port parking lot has 266 spaces and costs 100 yen per 50 minutes. The page says the charges repeat after 24 hours.
- For Toyo Port and Niihama-Higashi Port, Orange Ferry writes that leaving a car is free. The number of spaces is not given.
- The parking lot of Yawatahama Minatto refuses long-term parking where you leave the car and take a ferry.
- For Mitsuhama Port, the Matsuyama City page says 45 spaces, open 24 hours. Up to 6 hours is 100 yen per hour.
- For Imabari Port, the city writes a 24-hour maximum of 500 yen, with 1,500 yen as the example for 72 hours.
You leave your car at the port and cross to an island or the other shore by boat only. What you want to know then is how many cars the parking lot near the port holds, what it costs, when it is open, and how many days you can leave a car. This article lists, port by port, only the numbers written on the official pages of the port managers (cities), the terminal operators, and the ferry companies.
The routes and fares for taking a car on a ferry are in Car-carrying routes and fares from Ehime ports. The boarding deadlines and the rules on the vehicle deck are in Taking a car on a ferry from an Ehime port. This article is about leaving the car and boarding.

Matsuyama Kanko Port: 266 spaces, 4:00 AM to 11:00 PM
At Matsuyama Kanko Port, where the cruise ferries to Hiroshima and Kure depart, the parking information is given by Matsuyama Kanko Port Terminal Co., Ltd. The parking lot column of “Facility guide” (各種施設案内) is as follows.
Translation: “Matsuyama Kanko Port Terminal Parking. Phone 089-967-6667. Business information: closed days none; hours 4:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Number of spaces: 266 (vehicles up to 2.1 m high, 1.8 m wide, and 5.0 m long).”

The heading of the same page is 「駐車場(有料) / 駐輪場(無料)」 (“Parking (paid) / Bicycle parking (free)”), and the guide map of the terminal grounds has the words “multi-level parking” (立体駐車場). Below the number of spaces, a limit on the size of cars is also written: up to 2.1 m high, 1.8 m wide, and 5.0 m long.
The cruise ferry page of Setonaikai Kisen (瀬戸内海汽船) also gives the same hours, fees, and number of spaces for the Matsuyama Kanko Port parking lot. Its “FAQ” (よくあるご質問) says this about parking.
Translation: “The parking lots of Hiroshima Port, Kure Port, and Matsuyama Kanko Port are city parking lots. Please see the official site of each city. * There are no free parking lots.”

Calling them “city parking lots” conflicts with the page above, which gives Matsuyama Kanko Port Terminal Co., Ltd. as the contact for the parking lot. We could not confirm which is the operator from the 2 pages. The numbers (266 spaces, 100 yen per 50 minutes) are the same on the terminal’s page and on the cruise ferry page of Setonaikai Kisen.
The road from Matsuyama Kanko Port to Dogo Onsen is in From Matsuyama Kanko Port to Dogo Onsen.
Mitsuhama Port: 45 spaces on the Matsuyama City page, open 24 hours
Boats go from Mitsuhama Port to Yanai in Yamaguchi and to Nakajima. For the parking lot next to the waiting room, the “FAQ collection” (よくある質問と回答集) of Matsuyama City (handled by the Airport and Port Division of the Urban Development Department) answers as follows.

In the “FAQ (Q&A)” of Boyo Ferry (防予フェリー), under “Is there a parking lot at the port?”, 2 parking lots for Mitsuhama Port are listed. The first is at “Mitsuhama Port Terminal”. It is run by the “Matsuyama Port Office”, has 45 spaces, and the hours are “24 hours (operated with an automatic fee payment system)”. The 3 fee categories are the same as on the Matsuyama City page. For stays over 24 hours, it says this.
Translation: “* For stays over 24 hours, the total of the amounts obtained by applying the rules above.”
The second is a private parking lot “1 minute on foot from Mitsuhama Port”.
| Item | Content of the Boyo Ferry page |
|---|---|
| Operator | Kansai Taxi (phone 089-951-0273, answered 24 hours) |
| Fee | 700 yen for 1 day, 1,000 yen for 1 night |
| Spaces | About 50 |
| Hours | 24 hours |
For both lots, the page has this sentence.
Translation: “You cannot reserve a parking space. * The lot may become full.”
The page does not say how many hours “1 day” and “1 night” are. The Boyo Ferry page has no update date shown. The numbers of the first lot are the ones that match the fees on the Matsuyama City page (from May 1, Reiwa 7 / 2025).
If you cross to Nakajima by car, see From Mitsuhama Port to Nakajima.
Takahama Port: Gogoshima’s page says “There is also a parking lot (paid) at the port”
Boats of Gogoshima Co., Ltd. (株式会社ごごしま) go from Takahama Port to Gogoshima island (Yura Port and Tomari Port). On its “Boarding guide” (乗り場案内), it writes this for people who come by car.
Translation: “Come by car. * Vehicles can also board. There is also a parking lot (paid) at the port.”
In the “Boarding place and how to board map” of the same page, there are the words “Takahama Port Paid Parking” (高浜港有料駐車場) and “P Reception” (P受付). The meaning of the numbers 1 to 3 on the map is not explained in the figure. The number of spaces, the fee, the hours, and the operator were not found on this page, nor on the Matsuyama City and Ehime Prefecture pages we opened this time.
On “Access from Matsuyama City” (松山市内からのアクセス) of the Chuyo Regional Office of Ehime Prefecture (updated November 14, 2023), below the guide to Mitsuhama Port and Takahama Port, where boats to Tsurishima, Nakajima, and other islands depart, there is the following sentence. It does not write the number of spaces or the fee.
Translation: “If you go by car, there is a parking lot at both ports.”
The Gogoshima page also has guidance for boarding with a car.

Translation: “If you board with a car, please line up from Lane 1.”

On the access map, Matsuyama Kanko Port and Takahama Port are drawn with separate marks. Neither page says whether Takahama Port Paid Parking is the same as the Matsuyama Kanko Port Terminal Parking in the previous section.
Imabari Port: the city has 3 parking lots with a 24-hour maximum of 500 yen
The port manager of Imabari Port is Imabari City (Port and Fishing Port Division). On the city’s page “Operation and management of port facilities and port facility land” (港湾施設及び港湾施設用地の運営管理), there is a table of the parking lots managed by the Port and Fishing Port Division. The hourly lots around the Minato Koryu Center (みなと交流センター) are these 3.
| Parking lot | Type | Spaces | Hourly fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Imabari Port Parking Lot 1 (今治港第1駐車場) | Hourly | 37 | 100 yen per up to 30 minutes per entry (parking within 20 minutes is free), 24-hour maximum fee 500 yen |
| Imabari Port Parking Lot 2 (今治港第2駐車場) | Monthly and hourly together | 103 | The same |
| Imabari Port Okisu Parking (今治港沖洲駐車場) | Monthly and hourly together | 85 | The same |
The table also has the monthly-only Imabari Port Parking Lot 2 Okisu (今治港第2沖洲駐車場; 23 spaces) and Ebisu-cho Parking (恵美須町駐車場; 27 spaces). For the 2 lots that are used for both monthly and hourly parking, there is this note.
Translation: “These are parking lots that are also used for monthly contracts, so when the indicator light shows ‘Full’, hourly vehicles cannot enter.”
The introduction of the page also gives the contact and the handling of two-wheeled vehicles.
Translation: “For applications, availability, and so on, please contact the Port and Fishing Port Division. … * Two-wheeled vehicles cannot park in the parking lots below.”
For fees for long stays, the notes of the same table give examples.

Translation: “(Example for stays over 24 hours) 48-hour maximum fee 1,000 yen; 72-hour maximum fee 1,500 yen. * It increases by 500 yen for every 24 hours.”

The tourist information of Imabari City, “Imabari City parking lots (paid)” (今治市市営駐車場(有料)), lists the hours of the same 3 lots as “0:00 to 24:00” and the spaces as “37 standard cars”, “103 standard cars (* also monthly)”, and “85 standard cars (* also monthly)”.
The guide of the city-run ferry “Sekizen Tosen” (せきぜん渡船; Imabari to Oshita to Ko-oshita to Okamura) has a sentence for people who go by car.
Translation: “Especially during consecutive holidays, congestion is expected, so if you use the ferry to return home or to go fishing, please cooperate by parking your car in a parking lot near Imabari Port or Okamura Port if you can, and considering boarding as a passenger only.”
The column “Parking lots you can use” (ご利用いただける駐車場) just below it is as follows.
Translation: “Imabari Port: Imabari Port city parking lot (paid) and others. Okamura Port: the open space in front of the Sekizen Development Center.”

In the “Boarding place and parking lot map” (乗り場・駐車場等案内図) on the page of the same ferry, a “ferry parking lot” (フェリー駐車場) is drawn near the small ferry pier. The map has no number of spaces or fee for this lot. It does not say how it differs from the lots in the table above either. The Sekizen Tosen page says that for the ferry “Daini Sekizen”, all services are suspended every Monday and Thursday for the time being from April 1, Reiwa 8 (2026).
Yawatahama Port: Dejima has 14 spaces, and Minatto refuses long-term parking
The ferry terminal of Yawatahama Port moved to Dejima on April 1, Reiwa 4 (2022). The guide of Yawatahama City (Fisheries and Port Division, Industry and Construction Department) has a table on how to use the new parking lots.
| Facility name | Purpose | How to use |
|---|---|---|
| Parking Lots A, B, C | Exclusive parking for vehicles boarding the ferry | Follow the guide signs or the instructions of the staff. |
| Dejima Parking Lot (出島駐車場) | Hourly paid parking (anyone can use it.) | 14 spaces (paid) [no advance reservation] (1 hour free, 60 yen per 30 minutes, 2000 yen maximum for 1 day) |
| Cafe Le Petit Pont Parking Lot (カフェ ル・ プチポン駐車場) | Exclusive parking for cafe customers | 4 spaces (free) |

The city’s “City parking lot guide” (市営駐車場案内) lists Dejima Parking (14 spaces) as “24 hours”, “every up to 30 minutes 60 yen”, “every up to 24 hours”, “maximum 2,000 yen”, “coin type”, and “first hour free”. The “Access” page of Uwajima Unyu Ferry (宇和島運輸フェリー) writes the same lot as “Dejima Parking (1 minute on foot, 60 yen per 30 minutes, maximum 2,000 yen for 1 day)”, and has no mention of “first hour free”. The city’s page also has this note.
Translation: “* Shinkawa Parking ended its business on March 31, Reiwa 5 (2023).”

The city’s pamphlet (Japanese, PDF) guides people who drop off and pick up without taking the ferry like this.
Translation: “If you wait for a short time, please use the Dejima Parking Lot (paid) inside the grounds or the Yawatahama Minatto Parking Lot.”
For the parking lot of the roadside station and “Minato Oasis” next to the port, “Yawatahama Minatto” (八幡浜みなっと), the official “Basic information” (基本情報) says 197 spaces (3 for large vehicles, 194 for standard cars), and says the parking lot and the bicycle parking are for the whole day. On the other hand, the “FAQ” of the same facility has a sentence that refuses the use of leaving the car and taking a ship.
Translation: “The parking lot of Yawatahama Minatto is a parking lot for facility users and road users to rest for a short time. For this reason, long-term parking for other purposes, such as leaving a car and boarding a ferry, is refused.”
Source:
The same question also lists a paid parking lot nearby.
Translation: “There is also a paid parking lot called ‘Daikokuya’ about 200 m from Yawatahama Minatto, near the Hagimori Kamaboko shop. 100 yen for 1 hour, then 50 yen per 30 minutes. 1000 yen for 24 hours.”
The “Access” page of Uwajima Unyu Ferry also lists “Daikokuya (5 minutes on foot, 0894-22-5151)”. The number of spaces is on neither page.
On the Yawatahama Port page of Kyushi Orange Ferry (九四オレンジフェリー), we did not find any guidance about parking shown on the screen. The road from Yawatahama Port onward is in From Yawatahama Port to Ozu Castle.
Misaki Port: Kokudo Kyushi Ferry writes that it has no parking lot it manages
The “FAQ” (よくあるご質問) of Kokudo Kyushi Ferry (国道九四フェリー), whose boats go from Misaki Port to Saganoseki in Oita, writes this for the Misaki boarding place about parking lots around the boarding places.
Translation: “[Misaki boarding place] We do not have a parking lot that we manage.”
Source:
The map of Misaki Port on the company’s access page has a “boarding parking lot” (乗船駐車場) mark. “Sadamisaki Hanahana” (佐田岬はなはな), a tourism exchange facility of Ikata Town, is 1 minute on foot from Misaki Port (according to Iyokan Net). The page “Sadamisaki Melody Line Cycling Paradise” of the Sadamisaki Wide-Area Tourism Promotion Council and the page of Iyokan Net list the parking lot of this facility as 68 standard-car spaces and 4 spaces for people with disabilities, and Iyokan Net says the parking is free. Neither page says whether people who take the ferry can use this parking lot.
The road after Misaki Port is in From Misaki Port to Sadamisaki Lighthouse.
Toyo Port and Niihama-Higashi Port: Orange Ferry writes that it is free
For Toyo Port, for the ferry to Osaka Nanko, and Niihama-Higashi Port, for the ferry to Kobe Rokko, the “Boarding place guide” (のりば案内) of Orange Ferry (Shikoku Kaihatsu Ferry) has a sentence about parking lots. The Toyo Port page is as follows.
Translation: “For seeing someone off by car, or when boarding with the car left behind, please use the free multi-level parking lot. * Please park in the designated place inside the white lines. * We take no responsibility at all for accidents or theft inside the parking lot.”
In the “Access by car” column, there is also this one-line note.
Translation: “Leaving a car is free.”
The map of the boarding place shows “parking for boarding passenger cars” (乗船乗用車駐車場), “parking for seeing someone off” (お見送り駐車場), and “free multi-level parking” (無料 立体駐車場). The legend has 3 groups: “people seeing someone off” (お見送りの方), “people leaving a car” (車留め置きの方), and “people boarding with a car” (車で乗船の方). The number of spaces and the hours of use are not in the text or in the map.
The Niihama-Higashi Port page says the following.
Translation: “If you come by car, please use the free parking lot of Niihama-Higashi Port. … * We take no responsibility at all for accidents or theft inside the parking lot.”
At the end of the access guide, there is the same sentence as on the Toyo Port page.
Translation: “Leaving a car is free.”
The Niihama-Higashi Port page also does not write the number of spaces or the hours of use. The upper limit of the days you can leave a car is not on either of the 2 pages. The road from Toyo Port onward is in From Toyo Port to Dogo Onsen.
Uwajima Port: the pages we opened this time had no guidance on a port parking lot
The ports on the “Access” page of Uwajima Unyu Ferry are Yawatahama Port, Beppu Port, and Usuki Port. On the “City parking lots” (市営駐車場) page of Uwajima City (updated March 24, 2023), the city parking lots listed are 2: Chuo-cho Parking (中央町駐車場) and Shiroyama-shita Parking (城山下駐車場) (there is also a column for places where tour buses can park), and it does not say they are parking lots for the port. In the range we opened this time, we did not find an official page that writes about a parking lot for leaving a car and taking a ship at Uwajima Port.
What we could not confirm this time
- The number of spaces, the fee, the hours of use, and the operator of Takahama Port Paid Parking
- The operator of the Matsuyama Kanko Port parking lot (the page of Matsuyama Kanko Port Terminal Co., Ltd. and the page of Setonaikai Kisen write it differently)
- How many hours “1 day” and “1 night” are at the private parking lot of Mitsuhama Port
- The number of spaces, the hours of use, and the upper limit of days you can leave a car at the free parking lots of Toyo Port and Niihama-Higashi Port
- A sentence on whether you may leave a car at Dejima Parking of Yawatahama Port and board a ship
- Whether you can leave a car at the Sadamisaki Hanahana parking lot and board a ship at Misaki Port
- The parking lot of Uwajima Port
- The number of spaces and the fee of the ferry parking lot of Imabari Port (on the guide map)
- A record of actually leaving a car and boarding a ship
