PassThe Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism says that traffic heading toward Matsuyama Airport is concentrated in the morning and evening, and that congestion forms with this intersection at its head.

Ehime Prefecture’s guide says about 35 minutes from the airport to Dogo Onsen
Ehime Prefecture’s official tourism site, Iyokan Net (いよ観ネット), gives the following car route from Matsuyama Airport (松山空港) to Dogo Onsen (道後温泉).
マイカーをご利用の場合 松山空港～道後温泉（約35分） 松山空港 県道18号線、平和通り、県道188号線約35分 道後温泉
Translation: “If you use your own car. Matsuyama Airport to Dogo Onsen (about 35 minutes). Matsuyama Airport. Prefectural Road 18, Heiwa-dori, Prefectural Road 188, about 35 minutes. Dogo Onsen.”

This was the only official page we found that gives both the travel time and the route by car. The Dogo Onsen official site describes the trip from Matsuyama Airport by bus and by taxi.
松山空港リムジンバス道後温泉駅前行きで約43分/タクシーで約30分
Translation: “About 43 minutes by Matsuyama Airport limousine bus bound for Dogo Onsen Station; about 30 minutes by taxi.”

The Matsuyama Airport official site also has a line saying “道後温泉 車・リムジンバスで約40分” (Dogo Onsen, about 40 minutes by car or limousine bus). However, it appears in a table for the opposite direction, from Dogo Onsen to the airport. The Matsuyama Airport official site writes under this table that travel times change depending on traffic conditions and other factors.
The names of the three roads in the guide
We checked the roads named by Iyokan Net against map data (OpenStreetMap). They are recorded under these names.

The official guide does not say at which intersection you move from Prefectural Road 18 to Heiwa-dori, or from Heiwa-dori to Prefectural Road 188. For the section just before Dogo Onsen, we could not find an intersection name in the map data to use as a landmark for the turn. We will check road signs on site.
Enter the parking lot by turning right from the south
For Dogo Onsen Parking (道後温泉駐車場), the Dogo Onsen official site explains the direction of entry as follows.
※駐車場への進入方向は、南側（子規記念博物館側）からの右折のみ可能です。
駐車場入口 ※出庫の際は必ず一時停止してください。 ゲートは坂の上です。
Translation: “Note: You can enter the parking lot only by turning right from the south side (the Shiki Memorial Museum side).” “Parking lot entrance. Note: Always stop when leaving the lot. The gate is at the top of the slope.”

The Shiki Memorial Museum (子規記念博物館) is on the south side of the parking lot. The official page does not say how to enter if you arrive from the north.
The number of spaces is 93 or 92, depending on the source
Two official pages give different numbers for the capacity of the same parking lot.
- Dogo Onsen official site: 93 spaces
- Matsuyama City official website: 92 spaces (the page was updated on October 9, 2026)
Both say that motorcycles over 125 cc can also park there. The fee is 100 yen per 30 minutes. If you bathe at one of the 3 public baths (Honkan (本館), Asuka-no-Yu (飛鳥乃湯泉), and Tsubaki-no-Yu (椿の湯)) and pass your parking ticket through the machine inside the bathhouse, the first 1 hour is free.
Both pages share a rule about using the parking lot.
駐車場のご利用は、普通乗用車のみとなります。バス及びトラックなどはご利用できません。
Translation: “Only standard passenger cars can use the parking lot. Buses, trucks, and similar vehicles cannot use it.”

Roads inside the airport are being changed
The Matsuyama Airport official site has notices about changes to the roads inside the airport. It announces changes at about 10:00 on August 27, 2026, and at about 10:00 on September 30, 2026.
Just outside the airport, the Chuyo Regional Office of Ehime Prefecture says that, in line with the Matsuyama Outer Ring Road construction, the side roads will become one-way roads with the two directions separated (the page was updated on July 21, 2023).
それぞれの側道は、上下線分離の一方通行となりますで、逆走とならないようにご注意をお願いします。ご理解とご協力をお願いします。
Translation: “Each side road will be one-way, with the two directions separated. Please take care not to drive the wrong way. We ask for your understanding and cooperation.”

Things to check before you leave
- Open days for the temporary parking lot: Dogo Onsen Temporary Tourist Parking can be used only on set open days. Matsuyama City publishes a calendar of open days.
- Roads inside the airport: Notices about the changes have been posted. If you look at the notices on the Matsuyama Airport official site before you leave, you can see what the roads look like on the day.
- Congestion on National Route 33: The Dogo Onsen official site has a notice titled “国道３３号の渋滞緩和についてのお知らせ” (Notice on easing congestion on National Route 33). Matsuyama City has one titled “お帰りの際の交通情報のお知らせ情報” (Traffic information for your trip home). Both point to a page of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
What comes next for this article
The point numbers will match the chapter numbers of the driving video. After we drive the route, we will add the names of the intersections where you turn, the wording on the signs, and what the parking lot entrance looks like. We will also check the difference in the number of spaces against the signs on site.
