There are 3 parking lots, Lot 1 to Lot 3, open 24 hours

The parking lots of Matsuyama Airport are run by the Airport Development and Environment Improvement Foundation The spaces, height limits, and hours on the airport’s official page and the Foundation’s page are as follows.

Parking lot Spaces Height limit Vehicles allowed
Parking Lot 1 1,482 Up to 2.1 m Regular cars (height 2.1 m or less), motorcycles (including mopeds)
Parking Lot 2 151 Up to 2.4 m Regular cars
Parking Lot 3 170 Up to 2.4 m Regular cars

The airport’s official page explains the types of vehicles like this.

Translation: “Large vehicles (6 m or longer) cannot use Parking Lot 1, 2, or 3. Motorcycles (including mopeds) should use Parking Lot 1. Parking Lot 1 can be used only by regular cars 2.1 m or lower in height. Customers with regular cars taller than 2.1 m should use Parking Lot 2 or Parking Lot 3 (the height limit is 2.4 m for both).”

For the hours, the airport’s official page says “24 hours, open every day (staffed 7:00~21:50)”, and the Foundation’s page says “24 hours, open every day” and “staffed (07:00 ~ 22:00)”. The end time of the staffed hours differs by 10 minutes. The airport’s page says that a person eligible for the discount for people with disabilities who leaves when no staff are there can settle the fee on a later day.

In the airport’s regulations, Parking Lots 2 and 3 are written as “in front of the Air Cargo Building” (航空貨物ビル前). Parking Lot 1 is “in front of the airport terminal building” (空港ターミナルビル前).

Regular cars are free for 30 minutes, and there are 4 kinds of 24-hour maximum

The fee for regular cars differs between the normal period and the busy period. The airport’s official page divides the 2 periods like this.

Translation: “Normal period: Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. Busy period: Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, bridge holidays, Golden Week, Obon, the New Year holidays, and so on.”

The fee by time is the same in the normal period and the busy period, and at Lots 1 to 3. Only the maximum fee per 24 hours is different.

Regular car Fee
Up to 30 minutes Free
Up to 60 minutes 100 yen
Up to 90 minutes 200 yen
Up to 120 minutes 300 yen
After 120 minutes, added for every hour 150 yen
Maximum fee per 24 hours Normal period Busy period
Parking Lot 1 1,000 yen 1,400 yen
Parking Lots 2 and 3 800 yen 1,200 yen

Motorcycles can use only Parking Lot 1, and the fee is the same all year. It is free for up to 30 minutes, 50 yen for up to 60 minutes, and the maximum per 24 hours is 450 yen.

These fees were revised on April 1, 2026. A notice of the Airport Support Foundation says the maximum fee for regular cars before the revision was 900 yen at Lot 1 and 700 yen at Lots 2 and 3 (days 1 to 3). With the revision, fees for the busy period were newly made, and the long-stay discount for stays over 72 hours was ended.

The busy days are decided by a calendar

The designated busy days are on the “busy period calendar” (April 2026 to March 2027) on the airport’s page. All Saturdays and Sundays are in the busy period. From October 14, 2026 to December, the following days are designated besides Saturdays and Sundays.

Month Designated days other than Saturdays and Sundays
October None
November 2 (Mon), 3 (Tue), 23 (Mon)
December 28 (Mon) to 31 (Thu)

The designated days from January 2027 on can be seen in the PDF of the calendar. Some days are weekdays between a Sunday and a holiday, such as Monday, November 2.

Discounts and payment

  • Discount with the airport building: if you eat or shop for 3,000 yen or more at one store in the airport building (amounts from several stores cannot be added), you get one 300-yen discount ticket.
  • Discount for people with disabilities: half price when you show a handbook or similar. You do not use the advance payment machine. You tell the staff at the exit gate.
  • Advance payment: at Lot 1, if you pay at the advance payment machine when you leave, the bar at the exit goes up automatically. The Foundation’s page has the following note.

Translation: “Within 15 minutes after advance payment, the bar goes up and you can leave. If more than 15 minutes pass after payment, a fee is charged again, so please be careful.”

  • Long stays: you can park for up to 30 days from entry. To stay longer, a notice to the Airport Support Foundation is needed.
  • Miles: the partner service that gives double miles when paying with a JAL Card or ANA Card ended for credit card payments made through September 30, 2026.

Drop off the person you drive at the “drop-off zone” in front of the terminal

The road in front of the terminal is not a place to stop and wait. The airport’s official page says this about the roads inside the airport.

Translation: “The roads around the Matsuyama Airport passenger terminal are no stopping or parking, except for some drop-off lanes.”

Attachment 1, “Position of the pick-up and drop-off places” (送迎場所の位置), of the Matsuyama Airport Operation Regulations of the Osaka Regional Civil Aviation Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (as of October 22, 2024) has rules for the places.

Translation: “(1) The road in front of the passenger terminal building is no stopping or parking at all. (General vehicles may only drop off in the designated zone.) … (3) For seeing someone off by general vehicle, drop off in the ‘designated zone’ and leave promptly.”

In the figure on the airport’s official page, the drop-off places are divided into the drop-off area for general vehicles and the drop-off area only for wheelchairs and the like. In the photo of the drop-off area for general vehicles, there is a yellow standing sign that says “No stopping or parking! Do not wait here!” In the figure, it is a different section from the boarding places of buses and taxis. The parking lanes in front of the terminal changed on October 22, 2024, and the numbers of the bus stops also changed.

After you drop off family or luggage, leave right away without waiting there. For seeing someone off, the guidance is to use a parking lot (free for up to 30 minutes after entering).

Cars meeting someone go to a parking lot, free for 30 minutes after entering

About meeting someone, the airport’s regulations say the following.

Translation: “(2) Cars meeting someone, please use the airport parking lots. (About 1,950 spaces secured)”

The airport’s official page also has guidance with the same meaning.

Translation: “Customers seeing someone off or meeting someone, please use the parking lots (free for up to 30 minutes after entering).”

In the fee table too, up to 30 minutes after entering is free in the normal period and the busy period, at Lots 1 to 3. After 30 minutes, it is 100 yen up to 60 minutes.

The numbers of spaces do not match inside the same regulations. Attachment 1 says “about 1,950 spaces secured”, and the numbers for Lots 1 to 3 in the main text of the regulations (1,482, 151, and 170) add up to 1,803 (calculated by this site).

People with rental cars board somewhere else. In the figure of the regulations, the rental car boarding place is the zebra zone in a corner east of the sightseeing bus boarding place. However, the 6 companies whose official pages we checked use a shuttle car to an office outside the airport. The guidance of each company is in What to know before renting a car at Matsuyama Airport. The flow on the day you return is in Before you return a rental car at Matsuyama Airport.

The roads inside the airport were planned to switch at about 10:00 on September 30, 2026

In the notice list on the airport’s official site, there is a notice dated September 10, 2026 about switching the roads inside the airport. The construction is called “Matsuyama Airport Road and Parking Improvement Work” (松山空港道路駐車場改良工事), ordered by the Matsuyama Port and Airport Construction Office of the Shikoku Regional Development Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The notice says the following.

Translation: “The traffic route and the sidewalk in front of the airport terminal will change as shown in the figure below.”

The switch was planned from about 10:00 on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The notice has this reservation.

Translation: “However, the date and time of the switch may be changed depending on the weather and other factors.”

The figures in the notice show the “current route” and the “new route after the road switch” side by side. The legend of the figure after the switch has 4 items: “Parking Lot 1 driving route”, “driving lane”, “closed lane”, and “sidewalk”. The figure of the current route does not have the “Parking Lot 1 driving route”.

  • Figure before the switch: part of the diagonal road from the side of Lots 2 and 3 to the front of the terminal is a closed lane (red).
  • Figure after the switch: that diagonal road is drawn as a driving lane, and part of the outer edge of Lot 1 on the terminal side is drawn as a closed lane. The driving route into Lot 1 is the orange arrow.

The airport’s notice list and parking page that we checked on October 13, 2026 did not say that the switch was finished. We could not confirm whether it actually happened. The site map on the airport’s “Car and Motorcycle” (車・バイク) page has an image file last updated on December 23, 2025, and it is drawn in a different way from the figures of the switch in August and September 2026. From the page, we could not tell whether it shows the roads after the switch.

The notice also has a reservation about driving at night.

Translation: “Some of the road lights will continue to be turned off, so please be careful when driving at night.”

Before this, there was a notice that the traffic route would change at about 10:00 on Thursday, August 27, 2026 (on the Airport Support Foundation’s page, it is under the heading “from August 28, 2026”). For questions about the construction, the contacts are the Matsuyama Port and Airport Construction Office of the Shikoku Regional Development Bureau (089-951-0194) and the Matsuyama Airport Office of the Osaka Regional Civil Aviation Bureau (089-972-0319).

On March 4, 2026, the Osaka Regional Civil Aviation Bureau wrote this about what comes after the construction.

Translation: “For this reason, everyone related to the airport has been working together on measures against congestion. The national government, as the airport administrator, will also promptly move ahead with the expansion of the parking lots, as a fundamental measure, using the land newly created once the work on the roads inside the airport, which has been carried out since fiscal year Reiwa 7, is completed.”

The plan is to expand the parking lots after the road work is finished. The time of the expansion is not written.

On busy days, the airport recommends coming early and using public transport

The airport’s official page says this about busy days.

Translation: “Weekends and busy periods (consecutive holidays, Golden Week, Obon, the New Year holidays, and so on) are very crowded, so please come early.”

The Airport Support Foundation’s page has a note for when the lots are full.

Translation: “When the lots are full, it may take a considerable time to enter.”

The airport’s page shows whether spaces are available for each of Lots 1 to 3. You can look before you go.

For private parking lots around the airport, the airport’s page has a link to a map search and says the following.

Translation: “When using each parking lot, please check the conditions in advance on the website of the lot or by phone.”

In the same box, “Hamasho Airport Park 2” (濱商エアポートパーク2) is listed. It opened on the old Airport Street (旧空港通り) in February 2026, with 82 spaces and a 24-hour maximum of 400 yen. It is a private parking lot, and this article did not check it.
